For Microsoft Exchange Users

The iMPS2 Enterprise solution is seamlessly integrated directly into Microsoft Exchange, complementing its enterprise-wide messaging infrastructure with the most complete Exchange integration of any fax product, making it scaleable and reliable.

For users, sending and receiving fax messages is a natural and familiar process from within their Exchange or Outlook email client applications.

Sending Faxes

Send a fax from any application as simply as printing by using the standard New Message form or a custom “Send Fax” form including the options of choice of cover sheet, choice of bill code, priority of transmission and choice of preview before sending. Address to one-off recipients or from any address book accessible to the user from Outlook, with full current status checking from the Outlook “Fax Status” folder. Faxes can be created whilst connected to the network or while working off-line.

Receiving Faxes

Receive all faxes into the common user’s inbox with viewing either as an image file attached to the message or through an image viewer integrated into the Outlook form.

For Administrators

Use the Exchange Administrator to configure and manage the iMPS2 to Exchange gateway, define fax profile information by user, monitor the iMPS2 queues and services, and set-up lists of cover pages and billing codes. The iMPS2 server and the Exchange server can operate both on the same server, and a single iMPS2 server can support connections from multiple email servers simultaneously.

For Lotus Notes / Domino Users

iMPS2 for Lotus Notes is the most functional, scaleable, reliable network fax solution for the Lotus Notes environment.

The unique value of Notes is that it provides a foundation for both messaging and document management. iMPS2 has been developed to complement this approach by adding fax messaging and document management to the Notes platform. iMPS2 not only allows users to send and receive faxes from their familiar desktop, reducing the need for retraining, but it also allows administrators to track and manage these outbound and inbound transmissions, facilitating faxing into their Notes-based workflow applications. iMPS2 can be installed on the same machine as the Domino server or it can be installed on a separate machine, regardless of operating system.

Sending Faxes

Send a fax using either the standard Memo form or a custom Fax Memo form which includes choice of cover page, choice of bill code, priority for transmission, transmission-specific time, and choice of archiving options. Send a fax to “one-off” recipients or those listed in the Notes Address book. Integrate to any application is as simple as printing. Users can monitor the current status of their faxes from within their common client. Create faxes while connected to the network or whilst working off-line.

Receiving Faxes

Receive faxes as new messages delivered to the user’s common inbox, either as a file attachment, or as images of the pages of the fax embedded in the body of the message.

Designed as a multi-platform solution, iMPS2 Enterprise includes client software for virtually all enterprise desktops through Windows Desktop clients and Web Browser clients. For organizations wishing to integrate fax with their existing messaging systems, iMPS2 Enterprise provides seamless integration with all major messaging and email systems including Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, Novell Groupwise, and all generic SMTP mail servers. A gateway to SAP systems, and programming interfaces for COM (Component Object Model) or Java developers are also available.

iMPS2 Enterprise provides comprehensive management and security options and integrates with enterprise systems management software through SNMP reporting. The interface between Fax/400 and iMPS2 Enterprise has been designed so that the iSeries simply becomes another client. The interface is via the Fax/400 gateway and gives the flexibility for the users to decide how the PC clients implement the connection.

For PC clients which use Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes, the preferred choice would probably be for them to connect via email to the iMPS2 Enterprise server, using the iSeries gateway solely for the line-of-business applications (spool files/data files).

For PC clients who have not implemented a network mail package, desktop client support is still available. The preferred choice would be to continue to use the Fax/400 client, routing messages directly via the iSeries to the iMPS2 Enterprise server alongside the normal line-of-business faxing. However they may choose to use the PC client software or web browser client to connect directly to the iMPS2 Enterprise Windows server and bypass the iSeries for PC-based faxing.
