Channel Subscription Service

This is a web application that can be accessed by users' web browsers provided they can see the Presence server on their network. To launch the Channel Subscription Service, select Start > Program Files > Presence Viii > Administration > Subscribe to Channels. This will launch the application in your default web browser:

If you already have a Presence administration account (used to log into the Presence Administration Client) you can enter it here. Alternatively, click the "Create Account" button to create a new recipient account.

The Create Account Screen

This screen allows you to create a new subscription account and to provide your details such as first name, surname, username, password, email address and fax / mobile numbers. To the right of the screen are the delivery options - allowing the user to specify whether they would prefer plain text or HTML emails, faxes or SMS messages. Click "Create" to create the new account. You can use the username and password to log into the Channel Subscription Service only - the credentials cannot be used to log into the Administration Console.

Having created this information you can edit it at any time when you are logged in by clicking the "Edit Details" link.

Channel / Subscription View

When logged in you will see the channel subscription information screen. This displays a tree view of available channels:

To subscribe to a channel, click the "subscribe" link next to the channel name. Note that if the channel is secure, an administrator will first have to approve your subscription before you receive alerts. If a channel has children you will also receive alerts published to those children - unless they are secure.

Filters

When subscribed to a Channel you can apply additional filters on messages published to that Channel by clicking the "Filters" link. This allows you to create a set of rules to allow or reject messages, based on the subject line, contents and sender, as well as the message type. Rules can be grouped and nested to provide extra control, similar to the grouping method used in Presence Rules.

Filters can also be inherited from the parent channel's filters.
